• eLTER – Long-Term Ecosystem and socio-ecological Research Infrastructure project within the Horizon 2020 framework started. Coordinator is Environment Agency Austria. Project is funded from June 1, 2015 till May 31, 2019.

In 2007 Dr. Janez Mulec attended ALTER-Net All Parties' Conference that was held in Palma de Mallorca (February 2007).

In 2006 International Workshop between Slovenia and USA on Long-Term Ecological Studies in Karst was organized at the Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU in Postojna, Slovenia (20–24 October, 2006).

In 2006 Dr. Janez Mulec attended ILTER workshop of Central and Eastern European countries that was in Východná, in Slovakia (24–28 May, 2006).

In 2006 Slovenian representatives Dr. Jeffrey Turk and Dr. Tanja Pipan attended European Joint Alter-Net Meeting and LTER workshop in Gumpenstein in Austria (16–19 May, 2006).

In 2005 Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU published a special issue of Acta Carsologica devoted to Pivka intermittent lakes, one of the LTER-Slovenia site.

In 2005 Slovenian representative Dr. Janez Mulec attended the ILTER meeting in Colima in Mexico (October 27 – November 1, 2005). 

Dr. Tanja Pipan, Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU, was elected as a head and coordinator of Slovenia LTER (Long-Term Ecological Research) network in January 13, 2005. 

Dr. Henry L. Gholz, Program Director for LTER, Division of environmental biology at NSF, and past ILTER president, visited Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU in September 13, 2004. 

First activity within the LTER-Slovenia network goes back in 2001, but in 2003 Slovenia was accepted as a member of the ILTER network at the ILTER All Scientists Meeting in Seattle, USA (18–21 September, 2003).
